Renewing Your Mind

The last exercise was a doozy!  After all, I can agree that I want to get my believing to go past my brain and get down into my spirit.  But how do I actually do that?  It is accomplished by a process referred to as renewing your mind.

Key #4 in our spiritual workout:

The only way to become like Christ is by renewing your mind in the Word of God.

Renewing your mind affects every area of your life.  Anything that you spend a lot of time reading, watching or thinking about will conform your mind.  Therein lays the dangers of immoral television shows, bad music, or running with the wrong crowd.

Do not be deceived: Bad company ruins good morals

I Corinthians 15:33

Every Christian longs to be like Christ.  But to have the mind of Christ means to think like He thinks, speak like He speaks, and want what He wants.  Once you have the mind of Christ, you will act like He acts.

Before our salvation, we were conformed to the world, thinking like the world thinks, speaking like the world speaks, and wanting what the world wants.  Once we were saved and the Spirit of Christ came into us, we found that those old ways did not seem so comfortable anymore.  Yet we have a hard time breaking out of that old mold of thinking. Have you ever struggled with thoughts or actions that you really don’t want any more but you can’t seem to escape?   It’s like being brainwashed into the world’s ways and you cannot seem to get that flow going of thinking like Christ!

Only one thing is powerful enough to break you out of that prison of worldly thinking – the Word of God.  But your brain is so programmed by the old ways, you must reprogram your wiring.  The only way to break the old circuits is by renewing your mind in the Word of God.  It is like getting new wires and circuits so that you can think like Christ.

Renewing Your Mind

Renewing your mind involves spending time in the Word of God until your thinking conforms to God’s thinking.  The more time you spend in the Word, the more you’re deprogramming from the old thinking patterns and transforming your thinking to be like Christ.  Once your mind begins to think like Christ thinks, it will no longer be a barrier to active believing and your ability to believe God’s Word will  increase as your “believing” goes past the brain, dropping into your spirit.   After enough time is spent in the Word, you will begin to believe like Christ believes.

For additional learning  –  I wrote a book about renewing the mind specifically in miracles and healings.  In the book I explain in depth what renewing your mind is, why it is important, and how to do it.  I then provide scriptures specifically for renewing your mind on the topic of miracles and healings to easily effectuate the renewing process.
